Spiritualist Charged Over Alleged N3.5m Fraud

37-year-old Yinka Daudu, who claimed to be a spiritualist, for allegedly stealing N3.5 million belonging to one Monday Jatau was arraigned by the Lagos State Police on Friday

Yinka Daudu was charged before a Shomolu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on three charges of stealing N3.5 million from Jatau, under the pretext that he will solve his spiritual problem.

The prosecutor, Inspector of Police Mr Thomas Muhammed, told the court that the accused conspired with others now at large to steal the money, without offering solution to the complainant’s problem.

The prosecutor said the accused committed the offences on Aug. 24, at 11.15 a. m. at No. 6, Adenekan Street, Bariga in Lagos.

He noted that the offences committed contravened Sections 409, 312 (a) (2) and 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi, granted the accused bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum and  adjourned the case till Feb. 4, 2015, for mention.
