Man arrested for allegedly raping daughter

This is heartbreaking, PunchNG are reporting that officers of the Ogida Police Division in the Egor Local Government Area of Edo State have arrested one Osaro for allegedly defiling his nine-year-old daughter.

The mother of the victim said her husband had pushed her out of their apartment at about 8pm on Christmas day and locked her two daughters inside the room after a misunderstanding, before defiling one of them.

She said, “On Christmas day, he drove me out at about 8pm and was alone inside with the children. The next day, my daughter told me what he did to her. When I wanted to examine my daughter, he beat me up.”

The victim told our correspondent that her father had abused her severally and stopped her from raising the alarm by covering her mouth.

“My daddy slept with me. When I am asleep, he will put me in a chair and lie on my body.

“Any time I try to escape or shout, he will cover my mouth and still sleep with me.

“He did it many times,” she said.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joseph Edoigiawerie, however, said the matter was under investigation.

Oh My... Another AirAsia plane with 159 aboard overshoots Philippine runway

According to incoming reports, an AirAsia Philippines flight from Manila overshot the runway at the Kalibo International Airport in Aklan on Tuesday night, December 30, amid bad weather.

AirAsia flight Z2 272 was scheduled to depart at 3:10 pm but did so almost two hours later. Passengers were told that a Cebu Pacific flight to Kalibo was earlier forced to turn back to Manila.

The short flight ended with a hard, abrupt landing. The engine was immediately turned off and passengers were told to leave bags and deplane at the back using the emergency slide.

Passengers were taken to the Kalibo terminal where the elderly were given medical assistance.

When asked what happened, a flight attendant said it was because of strong winds.

As of this posting, one passenger was set to be brought to the ER for monitoring because of elevated blood pressure, while another expressed concern as his insulin was on the plane.

Flight attendants told confused passengers luggage will only be brought to the terminal after the plane is pulled back to the tarmac.

In a statement early Tuesday night, AirAsia Philippines said: "AirAsia Philippines confirms flight Z2 272 from Manila skidded off the Kalibo International Airport runway at 5:43PM upon landing. All 153 passengers and crew were able to disembark safely, no injuries reported. All passengers are now at a hotel assisted by AirAsia staff."

Earlier on Tuesday, an AirAsia flight headed to northeast Thailand from Bangkok turned back due to a "minor irregularity in the storage area."

The incidents happen two days after an AirAsia flight went missing while flying from Surabaya to Singapore.

According to Daily Mail UK, a shocked housewife was left with a five inch knife blade embedded in her shoulder after her husband flew into a violent rage and stabbed her because she was teasing him about his cooking.

Ganpat Vaz, 40, from the city of Surat in Western India`s Gujarat State had been preparing a plate of fried vegetables when he and wife Suman, 38, began joking about his culinary abilities.

But Vaz suddenly flipped after his wife made a passing remark about his manhood and a cucumber that she was chopping.

He grabbed a knife from a kitchen drawer and plunging it into stunned Suman's shoulder before fleeing the house and leaving her in shock.

Neighbour Kadri Ravikiran, 35, said: 'I heard a knocking on my front door and when I answered I couldn't believe my eyes.

'Suman was standing there with a knife sticking out of the top of her arm.

'At first I thought it was some sort of joke.

'But she was very pale and clearly in shock and when she told me what I had happened I immediately phoned an ambulance.' 

A hospital spokesman said: 'Fortunately, the knife didn't damage any vital tendons or arteries and she sensibly did not try and remove the knife herself.

'She is now recovering nicely.'

Stunned Suman said: 'I can't believe he did this. He's never been violent before and we often joke about how useless he is in the kitchen.

'I just can't understand what made him flip over such a harmless remark.

Vaz was eventually tracked down to a local park where he was arrested for assault. But police said he will still face charges and could end up ending two years in jail.

A spokesman said: 'He has pleaded guilty and has apologised.'

Man in China to be jailed 13 yrs for eating 3 tigers

According to report, a Chinese man was sentenced to 13 years in jail for purchasing and eating three tigers had his sentence upheld by a court in China's southern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The man, surnamed Xu, ordered 14 people to deliver the dismembered body of a tiger to his hotel in Nanning, capital of Guangxi, according to Qinzhou City intermediate People's Court, who oversaw Xu's second trial.

He then treated his friends to a meal of tiger meat.

Investigations found Xu witnessed the tiger's death by electric shock in Longmen Township, Leizhou city in Guangdong province on March 13, 2013.

Another two tigers were killed in the same way on April 21 and May 20, 2013, with Xu buying the flesh, bones,internal organs and blood at the scene.

He told the police he had bought the tigers for 440,000 yuan (70,957 U.S. dollars) each. The origins of the tigers are unknown but are suspected to have been smuggled into the country.

He was arrested after police found a video recording of Xu witnessing the first tiger's death. At his home, police found animal skeletons and meat, which were later confirmed to be those of a giant gecko and cobra, both endangered animals under government protection in China.

On April 30, the Qinbei District People's Court sentenced Xu to 13 years in jail for illegally transporting precious and endangered animals giving him a 1.55 million yuan as penalty for the first instance. The other 14 who participated in the transport of the tiger's body received jail terms ranging from five to six years and a half years.

On Monday, the Qinzhou City Intermediate People's Court rejected Xu's appeal and upheld the sentence of the previous trial.

Graphic Photo Of An Austria-based Lady Murdered By Her Lover In Edo State

This is a really sad story, especially in this festive season... 

The Edo State Police Command of the Nigeria Police Force has declared a manhunt for a suspected witness of a dastardly murder that was likely committed in the early hours of Christmas Day.

The manhunt followed the arrest by the Ikpoba Hill Police Division of the suspected murderer, Mr. Festus Aimufua, for the wicked murder of one Ms. Rose Aifuwa, a middle-aged Benin woman based in Austria, who had come home in a healthy, hale and hearty condition to celebrate the Christmas and New Year festivities with her family and friends.

Mr. Aimufua, who was said to be a lover of Ms. Aifuwa before she travelled to Austria, murdered the deceased and thereafter dumped her corpse on the road along Upper Mission Street extension around Oando Filling Station in Benin City in the early hours of Christmas Day.

The gory sight of the woman’s physically assaulted and mangled body on the tarred road of the highly populated market street soon attracted a large crowd of onlookers some of whom would in no time identify her corpse and family, resulting to the invitation of the police and eventually, investigation into her sudden death.

In spite of the scanty information surrounding the death, the state police command soon began to unravel the mystery surrounding the woman’s death with the arrest of the lover in connection to the murder.

Saturday Mirror reliably gathered that Mr. Aimufua, the alleged murderer and lover popularly known as “Two Million,” might have killed the deceased after she insisted on collecting a certain amount of money running into millions of naira, which he allegedly owed her.

Sources said the debt accrued from the unpaid spare parts the woman supplied the lover boy who owns a spare parts shop in Benin City.

As at the time of filing this report on Boxing Day, the police had already began its search for an alleged accomplice of the murder, who witnessed and possibly assisted the prime suspect to carry out the heinous act.

Saturday Mirror further gathered that the case would be transferred to the State Crime Investigation Department (SCID) for a detailed investigation of the murder.

While police investigations continue, family members and residents of the community have been calling for justice for the family of the dead since Christmas Day.

North Korea blames US for Internet blackout

According to RT a Russian state-funded cable and satellite television channel, Pyongyang has accused Washington of causing prolonged Internet outages in North Korea, which coincided with the recent controversy over the hacking of the film studio Sony Pictures. “The United States...has begun disrupting the Internet operations of the main media outlets of our republic,” the North Korean National Defense Commission said in a statement, comparing the US to “children...playing hide and seek.” The statement also called on US President Barack Obama to fix the country's “hostile” policy towards North Korea, “if he seeks peace on US soil.” American officials have said Washington was not involved in the cyber attack. North Korea experienced web problems last week and a complete outage of nearly nine and half hours Monday before links were largely restored. US tech companies said reasons could have ranged from tech glitches to an attack by a hacker group.

Female sex worker, & her two male clients burnt to death

Vanguard is reporting that three persons including a female sex worker and her clients were Thursday midnight burnt to death as a mysterious fire razed a popular commercial sex spot near Orhowhurun Roundabout, Udu local government area, Delta state.

Properties worth millions of naira were also reportedly lost to the inferno which also gutted adjoining trading shops and residential buildings.

Cause of the incident was still in doubt when Saturday Vanguard got to the scene but speculations were rife that the fire began at about 1am, Boxing Day, from one of the rooms occupied by one of the commercial sex workers at a popular brothel in the area.

Corpses of the victims, one young man and that of a young lady believed to be in her thirties were burnt beyond recognition, sympathizers explained.

The raging fire, it was gathered, extended to other apartments and near-by buildings through electricity cables, taking out provisions, electric and pharmaceutical shops in the affected buildings.

“Corpses of the lady and most likely her male client were found on the same spot”, a witness told Saturday Vanguard after their remains were taken to an undisclosed morgue.

Victims and sympathizers were seen lamenting the unfortunate fire.

Controversial former musician turned entertainers critic Etcetera took a swipe at Wizkid's current club banging song "In My Bed" as been whack in its entirety -- he gave some many reason which got me thinking, so i thought i should share it with you and get your thoughts... Read his article below:

 "Six weeks ago, I was in Benin City to support a friend who was getting married that weekend. We drove down to Ugbowo campus of UNIBEN, laughing along the way at bini guys and the way they pronounce certain words. We got stuck in an unusual traffic jam and my friend who was driving, took the opportunity to reply his pings, pausing only to turn up the radio when Wizkid’s “In My Bed” came on. A few seconds later, he increased the volume even more. I accepted that since I was in his car, I had to endure his choice of songs. So I listened, trying to figure out why he was interested in that particular song. Though the melody has this jingle-catchy feel, everything else about the song is horrible. The mix brought to mind those days when Nigerian studio engineers were still learning how to mix. The overall instrumentation is noisy with the kick pitched high, like a headache. Played on F-sharp minor, which is a predominantly high key for most people, but the struggling syncopation over a lazy bass line weighs the whole song relentlessly down. My friends know that I have a crazy physical reaction to songs, mostly when I love it. In this instance, I was gasping for breath by the end, as if the song was trying to strangle me. I thanked God I was still alive when it finally ended. But as the traffic lingered my friend put down his phone, this time to surf through radio stations. Again, he landed on “In My Bed.” That was when I really got scared, thinking I was going to pass out.

This year, we have had a mix of both good and bad songs. Wizkid’s “In my bed” is one of those ear worms you don’t want to get into your brain space for three minutes and 46 seconds. Those who will say “WTF” is Etcetera saying? I want you to note that I have a zero interest in persuading you to agree with me. If you enjoy “In My Bed,” I won’t dream of changing your mind. I heard it again last weekend at my manager’s party, and for a second, I thought it was some kind of pain killer advert, because the radio station where I have my show, currently runs an ad that sounds like a more palatable version of it. My Christmas day was almost ruined when a caller on my show requested “In My Bed” for his girlfriend. Because Christmas only comes once in a year, I decided to grant her wish, but as soon as I clicked play, I had the sort of physical reaction associated with someone suddenly coming in contact with bees. And before my mind could process what was happening, I hammered the stop button quickly, arrgh! If you are one of those who regard this song as a standard club track with all the necessary “thumps and bumps” and you are angry at my loathing of it, it doesn’t bother me at all. I have fantasised for weeks about punching this song in the eye, but unfortunately, the song doesn’t have a head, talkless of eyes.

How can one song cram in so many failed decisions per minute? One minute you are trying to woo a girl into your bed, the next, you are saying Tinubu eleniyan, Fashola eleniyan. What has Tinubu eleniyan got to do with getting her in your bed? Are you pimping her to Tinubu or to the other names you mentioned in the song? There’s nothing wrong with praise singing if you do it right. “In My Bed” sounds like a guy trying so hard to get it right and therefore getting it all wrong. You packed in the same overused lines “Anywhere I go all my people show me love / And people trying to bad mouth me. Don’t you think by now, we’ve heard enough of your sniffy little screech of being chased by enemies? It is boring already. Even a connoisseur of pop trash won’t find anything to like about a song like this. “In My Bed” is one song you don’t need to know the lyrics, you may want to shield your friends and loved ones from its strange concoction. It is indeed the worse song of this or any other year. Oh sorry, this year is not over yet, so it’s theoretically possible a worse contender could emerge, but I doubt it. Let’s put it this way, if placed in comparison with any of Artquake’s songs, it would still be a distant second. I can’t remember the last time there was a hit song this whack."
