Africans In New York Complain Of Ebola Stigma

There're complaints by African communities in New York, USA that their children are been stigmatized as a result of the Ebola Virus outbreak that started in West African.
The stigmatization was even made worse as US states and the Pentagon have imposed quarantine rules for people returning from Ebola-afflicted countries, Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
This situation has necessitated a community group in New York "The African Advisory Council" (AAC), which called a news conference in the Bronx, home to one of the largest African communities in the United States, to demand better education to end the fear.
*The public (New York) should be well educated on Ebola Virus outbreak so that this stigmatization against Africans in New York can be discontinued.

Nigeria Is Ebola-Free -- WHO

The World Health Organization declared Nigeria free of Ebola on Monday, a containment victory in an outbreak that has stymied other countries’ response efforts. The milestone came at about 11 a.m. local time, or 6 a.m., E.T. The outbreak has killed more than 4,500 in West Africa is remains unchecked in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea, so Nigeria is by no means immune to another outbreak.

Nigeria's Health Minister: Onyebuchi Chukwu
“It’s possible to control Ebola. It’s possible to defeat Ebola. We’ve seen it here in Nigeria,” Nigerian Minister of Health Onyebuchi Chukwu told TIME. “If any cases emerge in the future, it will be considered—by international standards—a separate outbreak. If that happens, Nigeria will be ready and able to confront it exactly as we have done with this outbreak.”
For the WHO to declare Nigeria as Ebola-free, the country had to make it 42 days with no new cases (double the incubation period), verify that it actively sought out all possible contacts, and show negative test results for any suspected cases.
Nigeria had 20 cases of Ebola after a Liberian-American man named Patrick Sawyer flew into Lagos collapsed at the airport. Health care workers treating Sawyer were infected, and as it spread it ultimately killed eight people, a low number next to the thousands of cases and deaths in other countries. Nigeria’s health system is considered more robust, but there was significant concern from experts that a case would pop up in one of the country’s dense-populated slums and catch fire.

Western Media Bad Blood/Negative Coverage Of Africa

Sometimes one wonders why the western media always focuses on negativity within the African continent? Is it that nothing good comes out of Africa? Not mistaking many African nationals have been given western nationalities due to their contributions to the western nations, e.g. Nigerian-born now America's computer scientist Philip Emeagwali. This Nigerians and many others from Africa have been given citizenship by western countries in order to discourage them from going back to their homeland.
As an oversea postgraduate student in developmental studies, i understand that most African countries and Nigeria precisely, are very much underdeveloped even with enormous resources at its disposal but i believe there's room for development. Nigeria would have been developed above its present state if not for the poor security state confronting it-- no thanks to the Boko Haram, whom obviously are been sponsored by political enemies of the present administration headed by President Goodluck  Ebele Jonathan (GEJ) and these anti-GEJ political enemies are obliviously enemies of the Nigerian state.
Nigerian government under GEJ have been battling the dreaded Boko-Haram terrorist group with an efforts at bringing back the chibok girls that   have attracted global attention due to the social media awareness created by the #BRINGBACKOURGIRLS campaign.
In recent days Nigeria in collaboration with its neighouring countries affected by the Boko Haram menace has intensified efforts to crush down the terrorist group, these multi-nation effort has led to a noticeable progress.
One can vividly recall that during the height of Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria, the western media where fairly objective with their reportage which were a bite lopsided and  against the Nigerian government. However, now that the government has recorded some progress in it's battle approach against Boko Haram, no credit is being given to the government for its efforts so far by the western media.
I'm not pro-Goodluck Ebele Jonathan's (GEJ) neither a pro-opposition coalition in Nigeria but it's obvious that in-spite of various crisis confronting Nigeria, GEJ in collaboration with other states were able to control the dreaded Ebola Virus outbreak in Nigeria even better than the United State of America at the moment, this feat deserves commendation from the western media as they were the ones that blew the Ebola Virus outbreak in West Africa out of proportion and now that the Nigerian government under GEJ has been able to control the outbreak, one can rarely see any commendation of Nigeria from the western media... This is so not cool. The western media has been known to be spreading negative news and propaganda about Africa but at-least a credit of positive development in Africa won't be a bad idea, especially with Nigeria's efforts at controlling the spread of Ebola Virus.
Africa and Nigeria in particular should be aware of these unprofessional pattern of African affairs reportage by the western media.

Sincerely
KachiZone

Mr. & Mrs. Bola Tinubu Were Drug Distributors Between Late 80s & Early 90s -- Mr. Aye Dee

The controversial Mr. Aye Dee, an African & Middle Eastern Public Policy and security expert and the editor-in-chief, of  The Past 8 Media Group just came after former Lagos state governor and APC leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu via his social media accounts. In the article he titled "Let's Talk About Bola Tinubu for a Few Minutes... " is explosive, revealing alleged ugly details of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and his wife Remi.
Read the article below and be WOWED!!

"While the world was protesting against Shell Oil and the Abacha Administration for the pollution of the Niger Delta and the hanging of Ken Saro-Wiwa, Bola Tinubu secretly owned and operated a Shell Oil Station in Washington DC.

This is despite the fact that he was a part of NADECO and was publicly involved in condemning Shell Oil and the Abacha administration.

Indeed, Bola Tinubu is a shining example of a person who has extremely low moral turpitude. In my 20+ years of observing his operations, I realized long ago that If he has to choose between personal profit and doing the right thing, the former always wins.

Speaking of, as much fun as we make of Buruji Kashamu for being wanted in the USA for Heroin distribution, Bola Tinubu and his wife, Remi, were also involved in the distribution of that drug in the late 80s, early 90s.

Their career in the drug trade was  cut short when they were apprehended by the US government.

To get off the hook, Bola (who was then a Senator in Nigeria) and Remi Tinubu struck a deal with Federal Prosecutors where they turned state's evidence and forfeited the  bulk of the assets they got from the narcotics trade. In exchange their criminal records were sealed, and all that was left was the civil forfeiture of assets judgement.

Below is part of that judgement:

1:93-cv-04483 USA v. Acct 263226700, et al
John A. Nordberg, presiding
Cause: 21:0881 Forfeiture of Property
(Cause 21:881  means the property is forfeited because it was acquired through the distribution of drugs)

MINUTE ORDER of 10/4/93 by Hon. John A. Nordberg : Counsel for the plaintiff appeared. Enter Decree of Forfeiture as to funds held by First Heritage Bank.
It is ordered that the funds in the amount of $460,000 in account 263226700 held by First Heritage Bank in the name of Bola Tinubu are forfeited to the United States pursuant to 21 USC 881(a)(6) and 18 USC 981.
It is ordered that First Heritage Bank shall issue a check in the amount of $460,000 payable to Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago terminating case Mailed notice (fce)

Of course I need not go into the issue of Bola Tinubu's real identity, his birth name isn't even  "Tinubu" for starters, nor do I need to rehash the issue of his falsified tertiary academic records."

A woman born with abnormal hands and feet in China has wowed doctors with her progress. Despite being born with feet that face backwards, Wang Fang of Chongqing Province has defied the odds by leading a normal life, according to abcnews.com.
Doctors initially feared that Wang would not be able to walk properly because of her condition. But the waitress, now in her 30s, says she doesn’t even see herself as disabled. Fang even says she can run faster than her friends

The young lady, who has a son with normal feet, added: “I can walk as well as anyone else and even run faster than them. I’m like everyone else, except of course that I put my shoes on backwards.”

See Woman With The World’s Biggest Lip-Disc

According to Punch, An Australian film crew, led by cinematographer, Abraham Joffe, recently stumbled upon the world’s largest lip disc in the remote valleys of Southern Ethiopia. Joffe told Daily Mail Australia that the crew was filming a documentary series for Canon Australia when they made the discovery.
“We were taking a tour with some of the local guides. When they spotted the woman, they were absolutely bewildered,” he said.
Ataye Eligidagne, 20, dons the largest lip disk in the world at a whopping 59.5 cm in circumference and 19.5 cm in diameter which is over twice the size of the average disc. The previous record disc in the Guinness Book of World Records was 15cm in diameter.
Lip discs are a long-running tradition amongst the Surma women of the lower Omo Rover valley in Ethiopia. There is evidence of women wearing the discs in this region as far back as 1896. The procedure, which also involves knocking out the bottom two teeth, is done around the age of 15 to 18.
In recent times, the Ethiopian government has taken measures to ban the discs, and the frequency amongst the younger generations is reportedly dwindling.
The discs are intended to attract a husband as well as a dowry for the family of the wife, who provide a contingent of cattle commensurate to the size of the disc.
“I think that locally, it’s a matter of pride. The larger the disc, the more impressive.”
When asked if her daughter would adhere to the tradition, Eligidagne said she would respect her decision.
Eligidagne has been stretching her lips for three years since the initial piercing. The process also involved the removal of bottom two front teeth. But the 20-year-old said it was not painful at all and there weren’t any adverse affects.

Linda Ikeji's Blog Shut Down Over Copyright!

Google has shut down Nigerian popular blogger Linda Ikeji's blog over copyright issues. The above message would pop up when you attempt to search her blog online. The reason for the shut down was made known by Mr, Taiwo Kolade-Ogunlade.
According to Punch,
When contacted, Google’s Manager for Communications and Public Affairs, Anglo-Phone West Africa, Taiwo Kolade-Ogunlade, said he was not in the best position to speak on the specifics of the development.
He, however, noted that Google takes the issue of copyright seriously, adding that the company belongs to a group of Internet firms that abides by the provisions of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and other applicable copyright laws.
According to Kolade-Ogunlade, to respect the rights of copyright holders, Google clearly spells out how users of its products and services can get permission to use someone else’s intellectual property such as text, songs, images and footages.
The search giant, he added, was no respecter of anybody when it came to the issues of copyright infringement, adding that “copyright is a big deal.”
“Google as an organisation takes issues of copyright seriously and belongs to a group of digital companies that respect copyrights.
“Copyright is a big deal and this is why you can’t just go and pick up another person’s intellectual property or content and lay claim to its ownership.
“That is why we have copyright guidance. I don’t know if Linda picked up any content and I don’t know what content is the bone of contention-neither have I looked into the complaints personally.
“But it is not a case of witch-hunting and has nothing to do with Linda Ikeji’s personality or anyone else because there is a process, and irrespective of who you are in the world, that process would apply to you,” Kolade-Ogunlade explained.
According to the Google spokesman, it has become imperative for online entrepreneurs to respect the rights of copyright holders noting that the Internet community should be built on mutual trust and general respect.
“Let’s respect other people’s rights and intellectual property. Making money off other people’s content without permission is wrong. Although the Internet is inanimate, it is the content on it that gives it life. These are the issues.
“Whenever owners of online contents come after you accusing you of using their content, it is because they have families to feed and businesses to sustain.
“People should also understand that copyrights does not only apply to text, but also extends to literary works, images and photographs, music files and MP3s, movies, movie trailers and videos as well as software,” Kolade-Ogunlade added.
Online entrepreneurs, including Mr. Aye Dee, Editor-in-Chief of United States-based 15Past8 media group, had reported Linda Ikeji to Google, accusing her of copyright infringement.
Initially, Google responded by taking down some of the controversial content on Linda Ikeji’blog before the latest crackdown.
“Google just notified us that they are removing our copyrighted content from Linda Ikeji’s website. All the stories and images Linda Ikeji took from me without permission in the last few days have been removed from her site by Google,” Aye Dee had tweeted, following his complaint to Google.
Stating that he employed the use of a DMCA takedown request to Google, he lamented, “Someone has to say something. It costs money to get good work done. I spend time getting information from my sources, as well as analysing and verifying the information. All that costs money. I don’t mind donating my time for Nigeria’s sake, but for someone to take my labour and use it for personal profit, no way!”
But writing on her blog before it was taken down, Linda said she is a target of attacks because of her success.
“The only reason this is happening to me is because I’m number one. So I am flattered. I am currently number 10 on Alexa.com. My blog is more read than all the other news sites in Nigeria, so I understand why I am the target,” she wrote days before the blog was yanked off.
