Great! Nigerian Re-elected Chair of UN Peace Keeping Committee



This is good news for Nigeria. It a recognition of Nigeria's effort in the global peace keeping efforts. According to Oodera, Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Amb. Joy Ogwu, was on Monday, was re-elected for the 5th consecutive time as the Chair of UN Special Committee on Peacekeeping Operations.

Her re-election, took place at the 234th session of the committee, showed the level of recognition accorded Nigeria’s peacekeeping efforts by the global body UN.
Other countries like: Argentina, Canada, Japan and Poland were re-elected to serve as Vice Chair of the committee and Egypt as Rapporteur.
It should be noted that the committee is the UN flagship for peacekeeping operation with a mandate to review all aspects of UN peacekeeping operations with about 148 member countries.
