A tragic incident happened at the Enugu Campus of the University of Nigeria (UNN) over the weekend as a lecturer in the institution’s Law Faculty, Dr. Bede Opata, committed suicide over an un-ascertained reason.
Thisday Live reported that the lecturer, who was until his death, the son of a former Commissioner in the old Anambra State, Chief Cletus Opata, hailed from Nsukka area of Enugu State.
Sources at the university said the deceased had took his life in his apartment in the town on Saturday night but his body was discovered on Sunday.
The 38-year-old Opata, has a doctorate in law, and was said to have been employed as a lecturer in the university in 2011.

Anonymous lecturer in the Law Faculty who spoke to Thisday Live correspondence said though no reason had been given for the suicide, but however its suspected that the late Opata might have taken his own life as a result of psychological reasons.
