IG directs police commands to inspect armouries

Following the explosion at the Police Divisional Headquarters, Yola, Adamawa State, on Thursday which claimed four lives, the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, has directed all Commands’ Commissioners of Police to deploy the Anti-Bomb Squad personnel of their respective commands to inspect all explosive elements kept in their armouries to ensure they are safe.
He has equally directed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, Sontoye Wakama, to visit the scene of the blast in Adamawa State, to condole with the families of the deceased and to ensure that those who sustained injuries from the explosion receive prompt medical attention.
The IG, in a statement on Friday in Abuja by the Force Public Relations Officer, Bisi Kolawole, commiserated with the families of those who lost their lives in the incident.
Arase called on the members of the public to go about their normal businesses without fear while assuring that all hands are on deck to ensure their safety at all times. He urged the citizens to remain calm, “as the Nigeria Police Force High Command has directed adequate security surveillance on places where Improvised Explosive Devices recovered are kept to ensure such incident does not occur anywhere across the country.”
