Australian couple welcomes baby violet after they lost three children in the MH17 terrorists attack

The parents who lost their three children in the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 over the Ukraine almost two years ago have a new baby girl.

Violet May Maslin was born on Tuesday to Perth's Anthony Maslin and Marite Norris.

'We still live with pain but Violet, and the knowledge that all four kids are with us, always brings light to our darkness.'

Mr Maslin and Ms Norris, who is also known as Rin, said their family was 'torn apart when MH17 was blown out of the sky by the violent anger of a nationalist missile'. 

'Violet's birth is a testament to our belief that love is stronger than hate,' the couple said in a statement on Thursday.

'We believe that Mo, whose 14th birthday was Saturday, Evie, 12 next week, Otis, 10 next month, and Grandad Nick have sent us an amazing gift,' the couple went on to say in a statement released through the Department of Foreign Affairs.

On July 17, 2014, MH17 was shot down as it flew over eastern Ukraine on its way from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur.

STATEMENT FROM ANTHONY MASLIN AND MARITE 'RIN' NORRIS 

"Violet May Maslin came in to the world on Tuesday 10 May, bringing with her love and light, hope and joy.

Our family was torn apart when MH17 was blown out of the sky by the violent anger of a nationalist missile, on July 17, 2014. Our three innocent, beautiful and inspiring children were killed, alongside their grandfather, Nick Norris.

We believe that Mo, whose 14th birthday was Saturday, Evie, 12 next week, Otis, 10 next month, and Grandad Nick have sent us an amazing gift. Violet’s birth is a testament to our belief that love is stronger than hate.

We still live with pain, but Violet, and the knowledge that all four kids are with us always, brings light to our darkness. As Martin Luther King said, 'Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.'

We will continue to love all four of our children equally. Violet brings some hope and joy for us. We hope she brings hope and joy for you too." 

RIP: Mo, Evie & Otis

An international investigation found the plane was downed by a Russian-made Buk surface-to-air missile, believed to have been fired by pro-Russia separatists.

All 298 people on board were killed, including 38 Australian residents and citizens. 

Among the dead were Mr Maslin and Ms Norris's children - Mo, 12, Evie, 10, and Otis, eight.

Their grandfather Nick Norris, 68, was also killed.

The children were returning home to Perth for school while their parents stayed behind in Amsterdam.

Janet Jackson is pregnant and have cancelled her remaining "Unbreakable' Tour dates. Janet Jackson hints she’s pregnant at 49 as she postpones her world tour to ‘start a family’ in a video posted online saying and i quote excerpts: 

"My husband and I are planning a family so I'm going to have to delay the tour."

"Please, if you can, try and understand it's important that I do this now, I have to rest up, doctors orders, but i have not forgotten about you, I will continue the tour as soon as I possibly can."

She concluded by saying: "Once again thank you to all your friends for your love, your loyalty, it's truly appreciated. It's been a long journey and you've been there every step of the way and I really do appreciate that, thank you so much. Inshallah, I will see you soon, I love you, bye."

Janet married third husband Qatari businessman Wissam in 2012 after two years of dating. It will be the couple's first child together.

It was a scary dramatic moment at the San Diego harbour when a cruise ship Adventure Hornblower crashed into the pier while trying to dock.

The incident, which happened shortly before 1pm on Thursday as a group of tourists watched with horror, caused significant damage to the bow of the vessel and the waterfront walkway.

Daily mail UK reports that Seven people were injured in the process, including three who were taken to the hospital according to San Diego Fire-Rescue Department Captain Joe Amador.

Davido pose with a rifle... Is he shooting?

So Nigeria music sensation Davido was photographed posing with a rifle. Though it's unconfirmed if the rifle was loaded, he was seen aiming a shot towards the sky.

It's alleged that he was handed the gun by a mobile police officer (See the photo).
This is certainly not for a music video and off course not a good example for those looking up to Davido.

White House & Capitol Building on Lockdown After Shooting

According to reports, a Capitol police officer shot a man who brandished a gun inside the Visitors Center of the Capitol complex. The suspect was not killed, and was being transported to a hospital for treatment. A female bystander was reportedly injured by shrapnel during the incident.

Officials put the Capitol and the White House on lock-down following the shooting. The annual Easter Egg Roll is being held on White House grounds.

Police said the suspect, Larry Russell Dawson, faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon and assault on a police officer while armed. He underwent surgery and was in stable but critical condition Monday.

Once released from the hospital, the 66-year-old will be presented to the District of Columbia Superior Court, U.S. Capitol Police said.

I am not APC and NEVER will be.

I am not looking for employment and certainly not in an APC government. I Dont believe in APC, its leadership or policies.

But at my age, with the over 35yrs experience I have gathered in Nigerian politics and haven served in the Presidency twice, I believe I should at all times, try and share whatever little knowledge I may have towards helping to build a better Nation no matter who is at the helm of the affairs. 

Nigeria ,Nigerians and Stake holders cannot afford to standby allow errors to be made only to turn round later and use it for political gains.

Now back to the subject matter.

The Hon minister for petroleum appears to me to be strictly a professional CEO. I believe, from my little research of what he has silently done to restructure and refocus the company,that definitely he knows what he is doing. But he is completely in the dark when it comes to politics or information management. And this of necessity must be so. I will personally advice the minister to employ a good public relations man and a good communicator who manages the company's interface with the public and media. Let the minister do his job of policy formulation and executive management of the NNPC in which he appears supremely competent.

As for Mr femi Adeshina, he definitely made an unpardonable slip. But should we hang him for i? NO.!!

Being a spokeman for a government is not one of the best jobs you want to do especially in difficult times like this.

Many times you are overburdened by your passion and commitment for your principal and as a human being you simply flip when you find yourself in a tight spot. In my career I have flipped and slipped severally,that is why I understand where femi Is coming from.

When you work very closely with the number 1 citizen in the country and you are privy to his thoughts, actions, and challenges, it takes divine wisdom, maturity and forbearance to hold your own if you feel the public is not appreciative of all the efforts the government is making. The mistake we all make under these circumstances is that, members of the public are not privy to what is being done behind the scene and neither are they interested. All the people want to see is results not efforts.

I believe femi knows where he went wrong. I have known and interacted with him for several years. He is not haughty and would never have contrived to insult the sensibilities of the Nigerian public. It is a goal down but the game has just started"
