Is Buhari indirectly a Boko Haram supporter or sponsor ?

The title of this this short article gives a clear understanding of the contents it intends to share to its readers. First let me begin by saying that good leadership requires an act of determination to solve existing problems, and the capability to act in due diligence to the will of the people. Nigerian President Buhari has demonstrated a lack of leadership capabilities and this is evident in his difficulties in appointing his cabinet ministers in over 4 months in office…. How can he explain to Nigerians and the world that he’s yet to find competent hands to serve in his cabinet? Does it mean that Nigeria a nation populated with over 170million that includes high level professionals and technocrats has no capable people to serve in the cabinet? (See Buhari's remark about Ministers in >> sunnews)
It is really saddening at this point as Nigeria economy keeps crumbling due to Buhari’s “Baba go slow” approach to leadership of not yet appointing his ministers under the guise of trying to fight corruption and searching for the “non-corrupt” ones; yes we all are in support of his “anti-corruption” crusades but the economy shouldn’t suffer neglect… “Baba go slow” please be fast enough so our economy doesn’t collapse!
Buahri’s un-seriousness is written all over his leadership approaches, especially security which has become Nigeria’s greatest nightmare with Buhari not visibly doing anything meaningful to curb the insurgency coupled with other security challenges like kidnapping which has become a lucrative business in Nigeria…
My question is how incompetent can a leader be to the extent of failing to be present or sending delegates to a side United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) meeting on security which particular focus was on Boko Haram? Only for the Presidency to issue a statement that it had other important things lined up & wasn't officially invited (which do we believe?), reasons for Nigeria’s no show during the UNGA security meeting on how Boko Haram – like what can be more important to Nigerians at this moment than security? (See Saharareporters for more details)
LR: Bukky Shonibare with Malala
One of the strong activist in the #BringBackOurGirls campaign Bukky Shonibare (left on the Pic above) expressed how embarrassed she was at the absent of Nigerian officials at an event it ought to be part... see her tweet below:
Does it mean the president doesn’t have a single empathy for the lives lost so far due to the insurgency? Or is he sympathetic to the Boko Haram sect, thus wants them to prolong their barbaric acts? These questions bring about different answers and thoughts on the genuineness in Buhari’s claim to end the insurgency.  Some observers are of the opinion that Buhari is lackadaisical in his approach to fighting Boko Haram simply because he believes in some of the group’s ideology i.e. Islamazation of Nigeria and the full implementation of Sharia law across Nigeria not minding that there are other religions (See News24 for more details). It’s safe to say that one of these arguments might be correct and this is the reason i believe that Buhari isn’t serious in his fight against Boko Haram…

Nigerians be on alert as your security is in your hands! A word is enough for the wise!

President Buhari: A “Democratic” Dictator?

Although am a post graduate student overseas, I have been following with keen interest, the political developments in Nigeria after the hand over by the then President Goodluck Jonathan. The ex-President, who happens to been described by many as Nigeria’s democracy HERO (See Leadershipng) has been applauded by both local and international communities (See Sunnewsonline).
Nigeria as a “democratic” state is presently facing truncation due to the dictator styled leadership patterns of President Muhammadu Buhari who was once a coup d’état installed leader (See Wikipedia). Unfortunately for Nigerians, President Buhari who was installed through a comprehensive electoral process by ex-President Jonathan has since his inauguration as Nigeria's President has led to citizens show of concerns over Buhari’s leadership style (Dictatorship in nature). These concerns have also been expressed by the main opposition party,‘Peoples Democratic Party’ (PDP). The PDP politicians and various civil society organizations who have all expressed fear of losing that hard fought democracy, which might be truncated by President Buhari’s military styled leadership as he continued to show total disregard of Nigerian’s constitution which he swore under oath to protect (See CNN).
Sectionalism:
Appointment Bar Chart
It’s quite unfortunate that President Buhari has been applying sectionalism since he assumed office as the commander in chief of the federal republic. A clear example to this, are his appointments as he has completely thrown out the federal character throughout his appointments, by completely excluding the South Eastern (0 appointment as at 20/09/2015, over 100 days of inauguration) part of the country from his appointments. The critical question is “Does it mean that nobody from that part (Southeast) of the country is competent enough for him to appoint?” (See fulllist of his appointments)
 Appointment Pie Chart
Marginalized South Eastern groups
Terrorism:
 Boko Haram
Abducted Chibok girls #BringBackOurGirls
President Buhari has been known to be a supporter of violence. It would be recalled that he contested for the 2011 general against ex-President Jonathan and lost woefully. During that election process, he vowed to cause violence if he loses and he indeed kept his ugly promise of violence which caused loss of 800 lives and properties (See Human Rights Watch report).
President Buhari has also been known to be sympathetic to Boko Haram, the now globally linked terrorist group and abductors of the Chibok girls which brought about the famous #BRINGBACKOURGIRLS campaign. This dreadful group, Boko Haram has continually killed, maimed, and caused huge loss of properties within the west and central African countries via suicide bombing. Buhari’s campaign against this terror group has been seen as a mere cosmetic approach as many observers have seen him as a HUGE sympathizer of the Boko Haram sect. This is evident following his week-in week-out continuous release of alleged Boko Haram suspects instead of prosecuting them – I mean this is not healthy to the Nigerian state, security wise (See over 128 Boko Haram suspects released). See pics of some of the released suspects below
Another incidents of national worry is that the spate of killings all over the nation under Buhari is unprecedented; something that he promised to curtail the menace during his presidential campaign tagged“Change”
Imagine, security agencies extra judicial killings of innocent unarmed civilians in Anambra state as they (IPOB) were observing a peaceful evangelism, simply because they are Biafran agitation group (See HERE); my empathy goes to the victims and their families in the alleged instant killing of 3 persons and the over 30 injured people. This is a barbaric act by the security agencies (Navy & Police personnel) saddled with the responsibilities of protecting its coastlines and citizens respectively. More worrying is the fact that the law enforcement agencies had to fabricate cover-up stories to defend itself and also in the process issued an intimidating official statement to the incident; this and many more killings have become our constant daily consumption; SIGH.
See graphic pics of the brutal killings below:
Political intimidation:
Since inauguration, President Buhari through various security agencies i.e, EFCC, ICPC, DSS have continued to intimidate other political parties and their members, especially the main opposition party PDP. The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) have been used by President Buhari as a political tool to intimidate politicians, mainly from the PDP. The presidency alleged ordering of the Directorate of State Security (DSS) to politically intimidate PDP members (both political and non-political office holders) has become the order of the day.  At this junction, what can one say about DSS’s illegal invasion of Akwa-Ibom state government house few weeks ago? That was a complete disgrace to our “democracy” under President Buhari (See Guardian).  It’s also important to note that the presidency has allegedly been using this same agency to frustrate the efforts of the election tribunal in several states, mainly states governed by PDP (Rivers and Akwa-Ibom states) by trying to fabricate all kinds of evidence and counter evidence including intimidation against witnesses of the PDP candidates who was elected by the people (See Guardiannews).  Ultimately we’re convinced that all their grand plans will be futile.

Our democratic setting is in HUGE problem as President Buhari’s indirect actions and inactions are tantamount to scuttling the process. Legislative arm of government which ought to be 100% independent from the Executive and Judicial arms according to the constitution has witnessed undue interference from Buhari and the ruling All Progressive Alliance (APC) leadership. In the election of principal officers into the National Assembly (NASS), they have been doing this in order to have 100% control of the legislative arm of government and Nigerians are frowning over these ugly developments. A case in question is the present case of the senate president Sen. Bukola Saraki who has gone through all kinds of political intimidation and all forms of fabricated accusations from an alleged aggrieved faction within his ruling political party APC, simply because their supposedly “leader” Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and cohorts are against his emergence as the senate president, as he (Tinubu) had favoured another APC member as his preferred candidate (See HERE and HERE). May I ask if Tinubu is now the owner of Nigeria as he’s widely known to own a large percentage of Lagos state according to the report by AIT documentary (See Youtube video)? Tinubu Seems bent on claiming ownership of Nigeria through all his indirect actions of trying to nullify and install his choice principal candidates against the wishes of Nigerians… Nigerians should wake up! A stitch in time saves nine!!!

CBN bans cash deposits into domiciliary accounts

The Central Bank of Nigeria has banned the payment of cash into domiciliary accounts in the country, TheCable reports.
In a circular released on Wednesday and signed by the Director of Trade and Exchange, CBN, Olakanmi Gbadamosi, the central bank said its action followed recent statements by individual banks suspending the payment of foreign currencies into domiciliary accounts.
Gbadamosi wrote, “The Central Bank of Nigeria has considered the recent statements by Deposit Money Banks concerning the large volume of foreign currencies in their vaults and the decision to stop accepting foreign currency cash deposits into customers’ domiciliary accounts as a welcome development.
“Therefore, in its continued efforts to stop illicit financial flows in the Nigerian banking system which aligns with the anti-money Laundering stance of the Federal Government, the CBN hereby prohibits from the date of this circular the acceptance of foreign currency cash deposits by DMBs.
“For foreign currency cash lodgements made prior to the date of this circular, the account holder has the option to either withdraw his or her foreign currency cash or the Naira equivalent. For the avoidance of doubt, only wire transfers to and from Domiciliary Accounts are henceforth permissible.
“The CBN advises individuals that wish to source foreign currency for eligible and legitimate purposes such as BTA, PTA medical, mortgage, school fees, goods etc. to do so through recognised channels with the use of Form ‘A’ for “invisible” and Form ‘M’ for ‘visible’ transactions. By this circular, those who deposited foreign currencies into their accounts before the directive will now have to withdraw the cash as they are not going to be allowed to transfer the funds.”

Watch Boko Haram Latest Barbaric Video

Islamist sect, Boko Haram, has released a barbaric video of its brutality in Nigeria, the stronghold of the sect. The sect has been waging a six-year old war against Nigeria and its neighbours but has been repelled in recent times.
With Nigeria’s president, Muhammadu Buhari vowing to bring an end to the sect’s existence this year, Boko Haram seems to be fighting back and this video is one of its last ways of doing so.

Dear Biafrans By Etcetera

In the heat of Biafra agitation being championed by Nnamdi Kanu through Radio Biafra; Nigerian musician turned writer, Etcetera writes on how he feels about the Biafra ideology and Biafrans... Read below and give your thoughts.
"I have been receiving a lot of mails and phone calls in recent weeks requesting that I lend my voice in support of the ongoing campaign for the sovereign state of Biafra and to also speak up against the recent shut down of Radio Biafra by National Broadcasting Commission. I have decided to make my opinion known to those who have been bombarding me with requests to support the Biafran movement.
Yes, I believe that the Igbo have been marginalised in Nigeria right from 1970 till date. I also believe that as a people, the Igbo have every right to speak out and seek redress. I believe that no tribe or ethnic group in Nigeria deserves to be marginalised or shut out by certain quarters of government because of an incident of the past. Just like every Igbo man, I believe that Biafra was a good dream born out of a necessity at that time. It was a good dream which went horribly wrong and became a nightmare for us, the Igbo people and the whole of Nigeria from 1967 to 1970, from which I believe we have woken up. It will be foolhardy to dream the same dream in the same way and manner without thoroughly accounting for why and how it turned into a nightmare, and factoring in the changes that have taken place in Nigeria since the 1960s.
The thought that the actualisation of the sovereign state of Biafra is in itself the solution to all the problems of Ndigbo is to display an understandable naivety about human nature and today’s politics. What we need as a people is a new vision that will encompass the lessons of the past, the changes that have taken place since the end of the civil war, the reality of present day Nigeria and demand for a system founded on justice, liberty and equality under the rule of law for Ndigbo and non Igbo as well. I believe this new vision is attainable. They say charity begins at home and in this regard, I believe it is time for every honest and sincere Igbo man or woman, to channel his or her energy towards actualising good leadership and government in Igboland by joining the political process. It is time for every one of us to unite against corruption in our land. It is time for Ndigbo to come together to reverse this ubiquitous trend of bad leadership ravishing Igboland and put in place a system that would enable the best of us to emerge as leaders. Great nations are ruled by their best minds and not by a band of common thieves without respect for individual liberty and democracy that do nothing but devise ingenious ways to looting the treasury and serve the vilest and most primitive of human instincts. Without this political and cultural change embedded in the concept of our future, Igboland will remain underdeveloped, and that in itself, will constitute a gargantuan problem for us in the future. Making this necessary change in igboland will ensure that if and ever or when Nigeria collapses as a result of our collective idiocy, irresponsibility, ignorance and corruption, and the jumbo pay of politicians, Ndigbo will be better placed to build a new nation based on justice, equality, rule of law, tolerance, development and honesty. War has never been the solution to any problem. I didn’t witness the civil war but from what I saw in my recent visit to Maiduguri, Adamawa and Plateau state, I have become a disciple of dialogue as a means to resolve issues. If Biafra will become a reality, it shouldn’t be through the barrel of a gun. It is wrong to seek divorce by putting a gun to your spouse’s head. We should realise that a divorce from Nigeria is also possible if the Nigeria state comes to its natural end because of years of ethnic and religious prejudices, injustices, and vision-less irresponsible, corrupt leadership that failed to lay the foundation of a viable state and make the necessary social investment for its survival. This might be the natural course of events if Nigeria continues to sleep walk into disaster and neglect honest nation building. We shouldn’t continue to pursue the Biafra dream in the way and manner some people and groups are doing at the moment without regard to the present reality. It can only undermine the whole essence of the struggle. As an Igbo man, there is nothing I want for Igbo that I do not want for other ethnic groups. There is nothing I wish for my fellow Christians that I do not wish for Muslims. We are all humans after all. We are all brothers and sisters divided by language, skin colours and religion. I believe that enlightenment is recognition of this basic facts, and that underneath our skins, flows blood of the same colour and minds that can think alike and able to overcome the prejudices which our difference try to impose on our judgment. There is nothing that can justify the killing of a fellow man. I can only lend my voice to a vision that doesn’t entail the destruction of lives and property.
I am sorry to say that the continuous clamour for the recognition of Biafra by America may not yield much because of the selfish nature of America’s foreign policy. If there is nothing in it for America, America won’t get involved. We are a great and industrious people. For a start, won’t it be better to seek economic independence and have Nigeria and the rest of the world depend on us for something? Today, Africa has gone from car assemblage to total manufacturing. I am proud that I am alive to witness this history, that a Nigerian made car can actually be better that the Toyotas and Hondas of this world, and it is all due to the ingenuity of an Igbo man. Ndigbo, this can be a place to start. Igbo kwenu!!"

We Killed Five People After A Political Rally ─ Suspected Political thugs

The police in Lagos have nabbed three suspected political thugs, who confessed to have shot five persons dead after a political rally at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos Island, during the last general elections.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspects ─ Adebayo Dipo, Alade Ogbulu and a Ghanaian, Kofi Olumede ─ were arrested by the Commissioner of Police’s Crack Squad on the Lagos Island.
It will be recalled that four people, including a chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Azeez Ashake, lost their lives on Sunday, September 21, 2014, after a fatal clash between thugs loyal to the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party.
It was learnt that the three suspects were, however, arrested during a raid on the Lagos Island area in May 2015, by the squad.
Our correspondent gathered that one pump-action rifle, one single-barrelled rifle, four rounds of cartridges, two cutlasses and one axe were recovered from the trio after their arrest.
The police said the suspects, who claimed to be working for one Rafiu Abija, presently at large, have confessed to banditry and killings on the Lagos Island.
The police added that efforts were on to apprehend Abija, said to be the ring leader of the gang known as the Abija Group.
Speaking with PUNCH Metro on Tuesday, 21-year-old Olumede, who said he travelled from Ghana to Lagos in 2007, said it was the APC thugs who engaged them in a fight during which they responded and killed the five persons.
He said, “We belong to the Abija Group. If we count those who have been killed, they are about six.
“After a political rally in Lagos, some of our boys shot dead Otun, who brought his boys to engage us in a fight. It was one Layi, our gang member, who shot him.
“On the following day, the APC faction came to Enuwa area to engage us. We killed four of their members.
“We are loyal to Abija. It was Abija who brought all these guns. Abija had so many boys. I was a meat pie seller before I joined the group on the Lagos Island.”
Dipo, 30, from the Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State, however, denied that the gang killed five persons after the rally.
He said, “It was only Ashake that we killed. The others died during clashes with our gang. We also lost some of our members during the clashes.”
The CP, Kayode Aderanti, advised the general public to always provide the police with credible information to enable them to raid dark spots in the state.
He said, “They have confessed to be members of the Abija Group that has been terrorising the Island area. We appeal to members of the public to cooperate with the police to ensure safety.”

Evil Cooks Poison Employer's Family Soup, Land Couple In Hospital

Two cooks, who are nationals of the Benin Republic, Victor Hounkpe and David Amusu, have been arrested by the police in Lagos for allegedly poisoning their employers’ meal in the Lekki area of the state.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the employers ─ Mr. Nwogu Chinaka, and his wife, Omowunmi ─ were taken to a hospital outside the country after eating the poisoned meal.
Our correspondent gathered that apart from the couple, the security guards and other domestic workers who ate the poisoned meal became unconscious and were hospitalised.
It was learnt that on Wednesday, April 22, at about 5pm, Hounkpe, who had stayed for about a month in the house, prepared a vegetable soup for the family.
Our correspondent gathered that all members of the family, including the security personnel in the compound ate the soup which was served by the cook for dinner.
Minutes later, the husband, Nwogu, reportedly developed a severe stomach ache and collapsed, while Omowunmi rushed him to a nearby hospital.
The wife, however, also became unconscious and fell at the gate of the hospital after she allegedly had a severe stomach pain. The couple was treated in the same hospital.
Our correspondent gathered that two security guards in the compound were brought to the hospital later in the day.
It was gathered that Hounkpe and Amusu reportedly fled from the house during the incident.
The police said the couple later wrote a petition to the Commissioner of Police, Kayode Aderanti, on the matter, and after investigation by the Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba, the runaway cooks were arrested.
Speaking with PUNCH Metro, 34-year-old Hounkpe said he put the substance in the family’s soup to make everybody fall asleep so that valuables in the house could be easily carted away.
“I am from the Benin Republic. I came to Nigeria in 2007. I have always worked as a cook in Lagos. David was the agent who brought me to the couples’ house. He was the one who gave me the substance to put inside the soup. He told me the substance was a sleeping pill. The plan was that everyone would fall asleep.
“They wanted to steal gold and other valuables. I put the substance inside the vegetable soup. It was a powdery substance. I had worked with them for about a month. The couple did not offend us. They were to pay me N50,000 monthly. We just wanted them to sleep off. I ran to the Ogudu area after the incident to pick up another job. That was where I was arrested.”
Amusu, 33, added that the gang was about raiding the couples’ apartment when the duo became unconscious and was rushed to a hospital.
He said, “I was a former cook in the house. I was the one who brought Victor (Hounkpe). On the fateful day, when Victor finished cooking the soup, he called me to say the job had been done. But then, we learnt that the couple was rushed to a hospital after falling unconscious. So, we fled the area.”
The police added that the plan was to use Hounkpe as an insider to give free access to the robbery gang. Amusu was to lead the gang members into the compound. They added that the plan was foiled.
The CP, Aderanti, who paraded the suspects, advised residents of Lagos to always do background checks on people employed into their homes and places of work.
He said, “They have both confessed to the crime. The couple has been flown abroad for treatment. I want the public to always be careful about the people they bring into their homes. In Lagos, there is no place for criminals to hide.”

SAD! See Nigerian music star, Majek Fashek now begging

This is really saddening seeing a one time Nigerian and African music legend Majek Fashek begging on the streets of Lagos -State.
According to Joseph Edgar who shared the photo and the information of Majek Fashek begging on the street of Lagos...
The problem was that he was begging for money in order to buy Ogogoro (local alcoholic spirit).
Moral of this goes to other artist to be careful and make sure they're not addicted to hard drugs or alcohol... and also they should save for the raining day as they won't be artist forever!

YES! Man, 27, jailed 21 years for raping 6-yr-old girl

A foodstuff seller, Chidi Ibiam, 27, was yesterday sentenced to 21 years imprisonment by an Ikeja High Court for defiling a six-year-old girl. They worship in the same church.
The presiding judge, Justice Sedoten Ogunsanya, found the convict who lives at Baruwa, Ipaja area of Lagos, guilty of one-count charge of defilement.
The judge held: “I have noted all the relevant facts of this case before me. The defendant is, hereby, found guilty of the crime of defilement and is sentenced to 21 years in prison.”
During the trial, the prosecution, led by state counsel, Mr Adebayo Haroun, had told the court that Ibiam committed the offence on December 15, 2012, and was caught after the victim reported the assault to her mother.
According to the prosecution, the convict is well known to the victim’s family as he was a neighbour and fellow church member.
Testifying before the judge, the six-year-old girl (names withheld), had told the court that the defendant had unlawful carnal knowledge of her on 12 different occasions: at a shop, a neighbour’s house, among other places.
The victim referred to Ibiam’s genitals as “tom tom” throughout her testimony.
Ogunsanya, who noted this fact in her judgement, admonished parents to start teaching their children the rightful names of male and female genitals.
She said: “Parents should teach their children the right names of genitals and give their wards proper sex education.” Culled
